March Break!

It's about time!

Finally sometime off to do what I do best: nothing!

Mr. Carlo Intense-ness

Carlo has a cool blog with his miscallenous rantings (Byron! Byron! Apparently he's dead...)

Veni Vidi Vici

Ok, Carlo, so you can't post blogs from work... and I can't throw my students out of the window.

I game, therefore I am?

World of Warcraft hit Europe and boy, is it ever causing a fracas...

I still believe that gaming, or more precisely MMORPGs, is a-ok. When there is nothing on TV, I would rather spend some time in front of the computer and kill a few baddies. It gives me something to bash, instead of venting such unpleasant violent anger on my students (Gee thanks Miss for not pounding me because I am so stoopid!!)

Just like any activity in life, MODERATION is key. If folks understood this simple principle, we would have a truck-load less of problems.

"Un nouveau restaurant dans le quartier"

That's the title of the workshop that I will be holding on the 28th of April 2005. The Association Québécoise des Enseignants de Français Langue Seconde (AQEFLS) will be holding their yearly conference at UQAM this year.

I was asked to present a project that I did last year with my students. A simple little project but apparently conference-worthy. Yay!

I can't wait! I think I'm gonna be giddy all day. Might make some folks sick.

Would you be my valentine?

No, actually I already have mine, thankyouverymuch...

But that rather clichéd question wasn't heard as much today as one would think. Teenagers + hormones = desperation to find boyfriend/girlfriend. No, instead they run amok (mokmokmok!) like a bunch of crazed lunatics. I stopped 2 grade 7 boys today for bodyslamming their friends into the concrete floor. Gee, I love you, lemme pound you to the ground. I never quite understood how the teenage brain works, but sometimes I think it's partially made up of jell-o.

Page by page...

Been reading some books lately (which is a feat for me...rather odd for a teacher to not be into reading)

Daniel Pennac La Fée Carabine (The fairy Gunmother): I usually don't dig French books but Daniel Pennac has this uncanny knack of inserting some kind of subliminal movie along with the words he has put on paper. Scenario, characters, setting... all appear vivdly in your mind like some kind of gritty movie. If only Guy Ritchie could put those images onto celluloid...

Douglas Adams HHGTG : I still laugh now even though I read three times... I can't wait for the movie!

Guy de Maupassant Une Vie : You know, I didn't think so much crap can happen to one character... Soap operas existed back in the 1880s and de Maupassant was quite able to make the mundane dramatic...

Going to bed now. Long day and happy tummy =)

See teacher run!

Bonté divine, I haven't stopped running all day. I'm surprised I'm not thinner or fitter than I actually am...

I should start wearing my step counter again, just to get an idea of how much walking I do in a day.

And then of course certain people wonder why I need to buy new shoes every season...

... because I'm materialistic? Naaaahhhhh, couldn't be that ;-)
